Tribhuvan University

Tribhuvan University, established in 1959, is Nepal's oldest and largest public university. It is located in Kirtipur, only five kilometers from central Kathmandu. It is funded by the Government of Nepal and was designated as the country's central university in 2013.

The university has five institutes, four faculties, 40 central departments, and 64 campuses. It also affiliates with more than 1,050 colleges in Nepal. It offers a variety of academic programs in science, management, humanities, education, and technology. It also has research centers to support scholarly growth.

In the 2025 QS Asia University Rankings, Tribhuvan University ranked 148th. This shows its solid academic reputation in the region.
