TSC Lower Secondary Level and Primary Level Syllabus

The Teacher Service Commission (TSC) has developed a standardized curriculum for the 3rd Level Competitive Written Examination for Basic Level teachers, specifically for the Primary and Lower Secondary levels. This curriculum, effective from 2076/11/01 B.S., aims to ensure transparency, merit-based selection, and consistency in teacher recruitment across Nepal.

The examination is conducted in two phases:

  • General Examination – Objective type, common to all subjects.
  • Subject-wise Examination – Descriptive type, based on the candidate's subject area.

Age Limit for Candidates

The candidate must be 18 years of age and not exceed 40 years as of the application deadline. However, the age limit shall not apply to currently employed permanent teachers.

Eligibility Criteria

1. Must be a Nepali citizen.

2. Must not be disqualified as per Rule 10 of the Teacher Service Commission Regulations, 2057 (including amendments).

3. Passed Class 12 or equivalent from a recognized institution with at least 200 full marks or 8 credit hours in the relevant subject and completed 10 months of education training. Candidates with 200 full marks in education-related subjects in Class 12 or equivalent are considered trained.

4. Under the Social Studies subject area, the following subjects are included: Economics, History, Rural Development, Geography, Civics, Political Science, Philosophy, Ethics, Psychology, Anthropology, Environmental Education, Health Education, Physical Education, Culture, Sociology, Population Education, and Health & Physical Education.

5. For the Mathematics-Science category, the candidate must have studied both Mathematics and Science with 200 full marks each and must meet the qualification criteria mentioned in point (c).

6. Must have obtained a Permanent Teaching License for Lower Secondary Level.
